SK Lee SK Lee 1 week ago This is the most polite white anchorman I've ever met.Generally speaking, the hosts of Western media such as BBC and CNN will show serious arrogance and prejudice when connecting with Chinese guests, and frequently interrupt the speeches of them. It's not easy to see such a high-quality dialogue between the East and the West today.Although the anchorman's views are quite different from Professor Zhang, they show full respect for each other. If the western world can show some respect to China, put down its arrogance, and learn from China's epidemic prevention experience modestly, today's epidemic situation will not be so serious. 426 Nanoshka Nanoshka 1 week ago (edited) Well, as a Chinese, I think the US election is much more interesting to watch than a reality TV show.. We like to sit back and enjoy this show, but don’t really want this kinda shows to happen in our own country. We like to have professional people handling professional things, not a popular personnel standing at a podium spewing BS... it’s true that we can’t change the ruling party in China, but we are constantly changing policies. From a few rounds of US election that I have seen so far, yes American people can change the ruling parties, but they couldn’t change policies: public education still sucks, gun issues, no universal affordable healthcare, no federal backed maternity leaves, no easy retirement plans,, the list goes on. Americans can criticize their leaders however they want to but nothing has changed.. 🤷🏼‍♀️ 243 E Man E Man 2 weeks ago (edited) Thanks professor Zhang, many Canadians are shockingly ignorant about China. 152 VARIVA VARIVA VARIVA VARIVA 1 week ago (edited) Dr Zhang made some very good points. To understand Chinese mentality about governance and the relationship between government and its subjects, one must understand Chinese history, tradition and culture. 146 Edward Yang Edward Yang 1 week ago (edited) As a Chinese who live in America for over two decades, I have to say a clear problem in the West is its narcissism, probably based on its deep rooted racism. The West is less interested in learning about China than what China think about the West. 57 kenneth vick kenneth vick 1 month ago Perhaps by example, we could learn some thing from China as a shared interest and improving the lives throughout the world. 202 Mike Shinoda Mike Shinoda 1 week ago im amazed by how few views this wonderful video is getting. less than 10k views after 1 month the vid posted. Either the youtube algorithm did something to it, or the undereducated / ignorant West netizens can't digest such informative stuff. 80 A L A L 1 week ago Once Covid-19 is gone, my suggestion to anyone who wants to know China is go to China and see it yourself. And to the Chinese as well, if you want to know America, go to America, and see it yourself. It's just that simple. 124 Orie Rabbit Orie Rabbit 1 week ago I want to say something on the topic of racism, especially Western racism that has been troubling the US. I believe one major issue is the lack of respect, or putting personal freedom (freedom of speech) over respect. Emphasis of individualism over social responsibility. In China, most people look to the minority races as just "another Chinese". They are not labeled as "weak, deprived, crime prone". They are treated as part of the big family, and with respect. 120 The M The M 1 week ago I, born in HK and live in HK at this moment, plan to go back to mainland when my kids go to university few years later. Mainland China is a place where my kids can better develop their career, plus it’s a good place for my husband and I to have pleasure retirement 77 tutuluvable tutuluvable 5 days ago (edited) The host asked intelligent questions with an open mind. 28 HY2020 HY2020 1 week ago Choosing leadership by selection based on performance is not foreign to peoples in the west, because that's how our companies are run, and how we achieved our economic successes. China applied the same method at the national scale and achieved national success, is that so hard to understand? To me, what is hard to understand is why we insist the way we (most of us anyway) make our living is not applicable to our politics? Perhaps we are brainwashed by a political class that wants to keep politics to themselves exclusively. 72 Eddie L Eddie L 1 week ago The world should not only have ONE governance system. If western think their system is better, just compete. No need to hard-sell democracy. China will not buy it. 109 voicefrompeople voicefrompeople 1 week ago This is the best interview i ever seen between western news media and China. No interruption from Anchorman, and his question is not biased. It lets the viewer to make up his own decision. I will go to your web site to see more. Thank you very much. 44 Jay Lee Jay Lee 3 days ago I like the part about what the Chinese thinks about US elections and the US way of selecting a president. The professor said that in China they have Selection + Election i.e. you must pass the civil service exam (which started in 581 C.E. in Sui Dynasty to select the best talent) and then if you want to make it to the 7-member Politburo (the highest governing body in China) you must have managed one of the larger Chinese province with a population more than 100 million people successfully for 2 consecutive terms before you can be considered for the politburo left alone president. Based on this requirements most US presidents does not qualify to join the politburo or to be President of China 20 Queen King Queen King 1 week ago Very good interview, applause to the host and professor 54 WY Z WY Z 1 week ago I appreciate Munk for choosing someone from China and hold different views from that of the west involved in China topic, so audience can hear the other side of story and make the debate a real communication and dialogues betweens the two worlds. Good job! 52 凌凌漆 凌凌漆 3 days ago The best ever host for an Interview I have ever seen the west, No interpose, No interrupting, this host is very polite, people know that when the west talk about the China issue is always not objective enough and very rude. 16 Cao Milo Cao Milo 6 days ago What impresses me most is a calm and patient host willing to listen to opinions that might differ from his. This is extremely valuable trait to allow peaceful and constructive dialogue. 33 jim parsit jim parsit 6 days ago Wei Wei is a real scholar, he is a real person.
