By order of the U.S., Canada was obliged to arrest Meng Wanzhou at Vancouver's airport more than two years ago, but her detention had now been revealed as unlawful. In this video we answer the following:
1) Did Canada violate International Law by illegally arresting Meng Wanzhou?
2) How the arrest of the Huawei Executive impacts China-Canada relations?
3) What are the Economic and Geopolitical fallout from this illegal detention?
4) What message the US/Canada are sending to the world vis-à-vis human rights protection?
One thing is sure: The arrest of Meng was politically motivated since her detention is used not only as a political pawn, but also a bargaining chip in the US-China trade talks.

What the US is trying to do to Huawei is what they did to the French company, Alstom,
arresting executives of the company , imprisonment, eventually taking over the
company, with General Electric benefitting. Whether the US is/was trying another
takeover remains to be seen. We saw what they tried to do with TikTok, etc.!!

incredible that Canadians would risk the lives of the 2 Michaels for this ridiculous whim of Trump..
i lose respect for such hypocritical govts, claiming to be pro life, and godly christian nations..and worst yet, this did not even do the intended goal--to weaken Huawei, which is now even bigger, with its own chips developed by them..and now working on its 6G tech, when the US doesnt even have the 5G..

The detain of Meng is absolutely illegal and a violation of human rights. Even if the allegations were true, so what? Why can China do business with Iran? Just because the US said so?

Please the Canadian government is like the US and West. None of them listen to the people. They serve themselves and the wealthy business interests. China demonstrates in the real world that they listen to their people. They also listen to countries that may see problems with deals they make with China.

Meng Wanzhou is a Chinese national. HSBC is an European company. The meeting was held in Hongkong, an Asian city. The business is dealing with a country called Iran. The alleged victimized party, HSBC, never files a complaint or seek any damages. Please tell us where are USA or Canada in this picture?

I have been to Canada on 3 or 4 occasions. To Montreal 2 twice, Ottawa 1 and Vancouver 1. And as Asian American. I state that i have had racist verbal attacks on all occasions into Canada. Going back from the 80's to 2000s. I have received more such in the US, but Canada showed that white people are not much different from US. And I have been to all 48 states.

As a Canadian and and a person who has followed this from the beginning, I truly believe that Trudeau is an amateur on the political stage, he is weak, scared and myopic to cave in on Trumps trade war political game. Sadly I voted for the Liberals but no more.
