He promotes not a radical shift in economic system, but a gradual transformation involving a shift in consciousness from profits before people to people above all else. I have hope for the future that the young can steer society into starting more cooperative enterprises and them being a huge PART of the 21st century economic MIX. That is the only way forward, a revolution of consciousness. It's nothing to be afraid of, just an evolution of the worker power balance into a more democratic take on capitalism. 65 Untethered Untethered 4 days ago Dr. Gabor Mate has been saying capitalism makes us sick for some time. 98 Joan Halgren Joan Halgren 4 days ago (edited) Marianne, this is probably your most fabulous podcast to date since it touches the lives of all Americans from shore to shore and beyond! I back everything you both discussed and encourage all young people to work toward a truly cooperative-style democracy! This must happen to make our system resilient: transform capitalism, improve our democracy and save our Earth too--all with the people rising to meet our historic challenge. I am in! 101 annek annek 4 days ago Prof Wolfe is generous in his characterization of Biden as wanting to be like FDR, evidenced by FDR's portrait in the oval office. Biden promised the donor class oligarchs that nothing would change under his administration. We recognize Biden's political theatre vs the working class voter 87 Carol Bevis Carol Bevis 4 days ago (edited) Excellent conversation!!! It feels incumbent on me to add that though yes we have experienced innovation and achievements, much of that came about through exploitation of many, many countries through bribes, threats, election interference and military interventions and support for coups that have caused so much destruction and misery. The other thing is that when I returned to the U.S. in 1984 after over 4 years in Chile, I was appalled at the yuppies and consumerism and total disregard for pollution. I actually thought the middle class was decadent. Now the middle class has been disappearing and we are somewhat approaching what the rest of the world experiences. So, the military industrial complex is now treating U.S. citizens more and more like the way they treat citizens of foreign countries. 43 Mark Demarest Mark Demarest 4 days ago Marianne is an absolutely MASTERFUL interviewer! WOW. #flawless πŸ™ŒπŸΌ And after watching Professor Wolff maybe hundreds of times over the years, I must say (IMO) this was his best 61 minutes ever. πŸ’ͺ🏼 On a sidenote, I particularly liked, admired, and appreciated his last 2 1/2 minutes. #ScholarAndGentleman πŸ‘πŸΌ 17 Stutz Bearcat Stutz Bearcat 4 days ago I remember when last year-ish I found out Miss Williamson was running for president - as a real actual practicing Buddhist and die hard empiricist (not a contradiction) - my reaction was ... "Oh jesusfreakingcrhist this is all we need, some 'new ager' mucking up the democratic ranks even worse! But as I started following her with the other candidates I became pleasantly surprised at her courageous practical - non-magical - stances towards solutions. And her fearless ability to speak truth to power!! Miss Williamson even spent some time on back n forth on a couple of my comments. Needless to say I went from someone with a dismissive attitude to a rather fervent supporter - and found myself wishing I could make her one of my egg/banana milkshakes - cuz I just started worrying she wasn't getting enough good grub on the campaign trail!! 😁 ❤ U Sister!! πŸ’ͺ 19 wanttooseemore wanttooseemore 4 days ago This was a awesome interview. Thank for all your hard wok Prof. Wolff. 95 Arthur Arthur 4 days ago Thank you, Marianne for this conversation with Richard Wolff. You are both brilliant and need to be heard by Americans, especially during these times. Stay well. 161 reach communications reach communications 4 days ago (edited) Makes sense as our servicemen sacrifice so much. Its sad the support that veterans are left with. Many are homeless and if they don't have families its even worse. The very least they should have all the medical care and mental health care and housing. Sad to find many homeless are veterans that need extra care obviously. 69 Daniel johns Daniel johns 4 days ago Wow. What a beautiful conversation. Richard's an amazing guest, and it seems Marianne has brought out a tone in him I have never seen before. Thank you both!
