On August 22, 2013, Meng Wanzhou met with Alan Thomas, HSBC's then deputy head of global banking for the Asia Pacific, in a restaurant in Hong Kong. During that meeting, Meng made a PowerPoint presentation about Huawei's business links in Iran through a company called Skycom and Huawei's efforts in compliance with U.S. sanctions. Some five years later, that presentation became the key evidence in a U.S. extradition case against her, alleging that she committed fraud against HSBC and other banks, exposing them to “both economic and reputational” risks.
Little is known about the details of this meeting between Meng and Thomas. CGTN journalist Liu Xin investigated the case to find out the truth behind it.

HSBC sold Huawei down the swanee to get a lower fine. For a bank to do that to a client is unforgivable.

It's obviously there's no cases against Ms. Meng. It was Washington, Trump & his team acted illegally for Ms. Meng arrested for Trump's bargaining chip between the trade world w China.

Hong Kong anti corruption should raid HSBC office. I believe they probably find a can of worm somewhere inside the CEO's office.

Trump tweets right after Huawei CFO is kidnapped by Canada , if China gives the US a good trade deal, he would see about getting Meng released. One day Huawei is a threat to national security but the next day Huawei is no longer a national security threat. Why would anyone think that the Huawei concerns are just political.

Trump made it clear what all this is all about when he publicly stated "We cannot allow anyone to out compete America."
Is banning, sanctioning, arresting family members of high company (that cannot be bought out and plundered) CEO's the (capitalist) American way of free trade, fair competition?

In the case of WZ Meng, even though she presented a structured, legal, honest and sanctions-complying power point, it was used against her in the sense everything she said got twisted which was what HSBC have become. They did this to Hans Blix in the Iraq invasion and so many others.

American military industry needs to start a new old war to sustain its income source as decade long Middle East wars are ending. China’s rise is the perfect and only target .........Americans have come to realize that without military spending US economy will go to a tailspin.....

Really, the United States didn't become the most corrupted country in the world. From its beginning with genocide of native Americans, enslavement of Africans, and opium trade in China, it's always been the most corrupted country in the world.
