Father Thomas Keating's book Intimacy with God is so helpful for anyone who wants to meditate. 39 Dana Sandlin Dana Sandlin 4 months ago I live within 25 miles of Mepkin Abbey.this film is good but does not really capture the natural beauty of the place. It is very beautiful. They no longer have the egg business (gave that up around 2015). Before the pandemic, they gave many weekend retreats and allowed outsiders to attend their Sunday morning services. They are always giving to the community and it is a beautiful way of life. We are lucky to have them in our community. Anyone would do well to have an Abbey in their community as an example of a peaceful and giving way of life. The Abbey has a beautiful gift shop and book store with many valuable religious books for purchase. They also have a large religious library where they allow many meetings and books can be checked out or read on the property. Tours are available, as well as overnight retreats. The land was oritinally owned by a US Senator and her publisher husband. They donated the land to the Trappists at their death and are buried on the property. dts 11 Nicholas Keegan Nicholas Keegan 3 months ago Abbot Francis Kline, shown in this old video, died on 27 August 2006, aged 57, after a four year battle with leukaemia.
