CA US spy plane conducts closest fly-by manoeuvre after China sends 220 Vessels to South China Sea 6,478 views •Mar 28, 2021 169 5 Share Save U.S. Military Post 112K subscribers A US spy plane has conducted its closest ever fly-by to Chinese territory according to a report made by the South China Sea Probing Initiative think tank, amid surging tensions in the region. China has provoked international alarm by massing ships in the South China Sea near a reef claimed by both China and the Philippines. This week, Manila formally protested what it called a violation of "its sovereignty, sovereign rights, and jurisdiction." The United States and Western allies backed the Philippine call for China to immediately withdraw what appears to be a flotilla of fishing vessels. The SCSPI reported that a US Air Force RC-135U Combat Sent flew just 25.33 nautical miles past China’s coastline on March 22. The Peking University connected think tank said it was “the shortest distance US reconnaissance aircraft have reached from China’s coastlines, based on public data so far.” The US military has increased the frequency of daily spy plane flights and have been edging ever closer to Chinese territory. ________________________________________________ © Copyright 2021 US Military Post.
